On the Air: The Class of 2025 Signs Off

May 22, 2025

If you tuned in to 88.1 WELH for the Senior Day Boys Lacrosse game on May 7—or caught the action in person at Wheeler Farm—you witnessed a bittersweet milestone: Robert O. ’25’s final live sports broadcast on the school’s radio station.

“Covering a live sports game has always been a dream of mine,” Robert shares. It all began as a long shot when I approached Mr. Harris with the idea of a sports radio show back in 4th grade. I still can hardly believe how many broadcasts I’ve done since then, right through to my senior year.”

What started as an ambitious idea became a weekly rhythm in Robert’s life and one of the most meaningful parts of his Wheeler experience. “The weekly radio shows have grown into something incredibly special,” he says. “It’s a textbook example of how Wheeler supported something I was passionate about and helped me expand it beyond what I imagined. Every week, no matter what was happening in our individual lives, my friends and I recorded a show. That level of continuity and stability was invaluable. I’ll forever be able to listen back to those shows and be blown away by how much I evolved from a nine-year-old just starting out to my final show as an 18-year-old.”

Robert also appreciates the meaningful connections he made along the way. “Broadcasting gave me the chance to meet incredible players and coaches,” he adds. “These shows were for the players and their families, and I’m thrilled we could give them the recognition and coverage their teams deserved. A massive thank you to Mr. David Schiano, Mr. Jesse Yip, Coach Eric Stein, Bodhi [B. ’25], and all those involved on the technical side for the support.” Robert isn’t the only senior who first entered the studio in Lower School and will be signing off this spring. His fellow Wheeler broadcasters, Bodhi, Jack B. ’25, and Alden B. ’25, have also recorded–or will soon record–their final shows.

Bodhi and The Bodhi Show

Bodhi will host his last WELH radio show live on June 9 from his home studio, where he’s been broadcasting live on WELH for years. “I feel fortunate to have had Wheeler School Broadcasting as an incredible resource to explore my passions in broadcasting,” he shares. Jack, who has been on air since 5th grade, describes his final broadcast as “a goodbye to a world of expression and creativity, where I could be myself in an unfiltered and exhilarating environment.”

As Director of WELH Operations and Wheeler Media Program David Schiano P’26 notes, “Robert, Bodhi, Jack, and Alden have all been treasures— they, along with our other senior broadcasters, Max F. ’25, Izzy R. ’25, Krish D. ’25, and Jacob J. ’25, have helped make the Wheeler Media Program the success that it is today.”

Together, these students leave behind more than just radio shows; they’ve helped shape a lasting chapter in Wheeler’s broadcasting history.
