Building Resilience and Positive Relationships Across Genders: Wheeler to Host Dr. Brendan K. Hartman for a Special Session for Parents on March 31

March 24, 2026

Dr. Brendan K. Hartman

We’re looking forward to welcoming Dr. Brendan K. Hartman, a sociologist and educator who specializes in the social-emotional development and wellbeing of boys and men – and how that connects to the wellbeing of others – to Wheeler on Tuesday, March 31 for a series of special programs. During the day, he’ll talk with students in the 7th through 12th grades around topics related to gender dynamics, emotional wellbeing, and healthy relationships, and he’ll present to our faculty and staff after school. That evening, Wheeler will host a session with Dr. Hartman for interested parents and guardians from all of our academic divisions and across our local schools and communities. During the event, which will begin at 6:30pm on our Providence campus, Dr. Hartman will offer actionable guidance for parents to support their child in being resilient and navigating the complex array of social, emotional, and gender pressures and divides they’re exposed to in the physical and digital worlds. You can RSVP by filling out this form.

Dr. Hartman holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Edinburgh and teaches at the University of the Fraser Valley. As a full-time consultant and speaker, he works with schools and organizations across North America to design research-based action plans and deliver workshops that help educators, parents, and communities better engage and support boys and men. He’s also led a Canadian government-supported program for at risk male youth, and he is a member of the International Association of Suicide Prevention for Boys and Men. You can learn more about his work, which focuses on fostering emotional connection, resilience, and healthier relationships across genders, by visiting his website. Dr. Hartman lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, with his family.
