Transportation

Wheeler helps to connect families with the transportation options available through private (available for a fee) or state-sponsored (participating cities only) busing. See below for information about these transportation options. Please note that registration forms, deadlines for registration, and relevant contact information are different for each option.

 

City of Providence

New Families
You must register with the Providence School system for transportation purposes. You can contact the department via telephone (401-456-9297), fax (401-278-0553), and email (Inforeg@ppsd.org). During peak registration season, you will receive a response within 5-7 working days.

City of Providence Busing for Lower and Middle School Students
The Providence School Board Policy is as follows: Assistance in transportation shall be provided to (1) Elementary students who live more than one mile from the school to which they are assigned; (2) Middle school students who live more than one and one-half miles from the school to which they are assigned. The Transportation Department will adhere to this policy. Every parent requesting transportation through the City of Providence must complete and submit this request form by June 9, 2025.

City of Providence Busing for Upper School Students
High school students who live over one mile from the school to which they are assigned may receive a RIPTA pass at no cost to the family. If your student needs and qualifies for the RIPTA pass, you must complete and submit this form before July 7, 2025 to receive a pass for the first day of school.

 

RIDE Statewide Transportation (Non-Providence Residents)

If you reside in one of the participating districts listed under Region Three (including Barrington, Bristol, Central Falls, Cranston, Johnston, North Providence, Pawtucket, Smithfield, and Warren), you must complete and submit this form. Open enrollment and new transportation requests are available throughout the entire school year. East Providence RI Busing

Students residing in East Providence are eligible for statewide busing. Open enrollment begins April 1, 2025 and closes July 31, 2025. Enrollment is accepted all year; however, the July 31 deadline ensures bus service on the first day of school. You must complete and submit this form to register.

 

Lincoln RI Busing

Students residing in Lincoln are eligible for statewide busing. Open enrollment begins April 1, 2025 and closes July 31, 2025. Enrollment is accepted all year, however, the July 31 deadline ensures bus service on the first day of school. You must complete and submit this form to register.

 

Shuttle Bus from Wheeler’s Providence Campus to and From the Seekonk Farm Campus

We are excited to continue the Wheelies Shuttle Bus service between the farm and Providence campus for the 2025-2026 school year! We are extending our partnership with NorthStar transportation company to provide this service.

The round trip fee is $975 per student or one-way for $575. Sign-up is available by completing this form. Bus registration is managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Route 95 N and 495 Corridor Private Bus Option

Wheeler has partnered with Moses Brown to offer a private bus service for families living near Route 95 North and the 495 corridor for the 2025-26 school year. The cost of the full-year round-trip service is $2,900. We also offer a one-way option that allows a student to ride the bus once every day, either in the morning or afternoon, at $1,950 for the year. The completed contract and deposit must be submitted via this form by August 6, 2025. Bus registration is managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

South County Area Private Bus Option

Wheeler has partnered with Moses Brown to offer private bus service for families living near Routes 1, 4, and 95. There are three pickup points on the route. Information on the bus stops, schedule, and fees for this private service is updated annually. The cost of the full-year round-trip service for the 2025-26 school year is $2,050. The completed contract and deposit must be submitted via this form by August 6, 2025. Bus registration is managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Dartmouth and Fall River Morning Bus

Wheeler offers a private minibus for families living in the Dartmouth and Fall River area. There are two pick up points on the route. Information on the bus stops, schedule, and fees for this private service is updated annually. The cost of the full-year one way trip service for the 2025-26 school year is $2,300. The completed contract and deposit for the upcoming school year must be submitted via this form by August 6, 2025. Bus registration is managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Carpooling

Although Wheeler does not coordinate carpools, families can log-in to the Parent Portal, search the Parent Directory by town, and reach out to others in their area to organize ride-shares for students who live near each other.
