Dear Lower School Families,

Welcome (almost) back! The summer months have passed by in a blur and I hope you had the opportunity to create memories and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Summer is a time when routines are set aside, and children are free to explore, play, and maybe even find new interests. Whether it was beach visits, family adventures to new places, or simply relishing in the warmth of unplanned afternoons, I hope your summer was filled with energizing and rejuvenating moments.

As we transition from the carefree days of summer to the vibrant halls of the Lower School, I am reminded of the unique joy that accompanies the lower school years. It is a time of boundless curiosity, infectious enthusiasm, and tremendous growth. From the excited faces of kindergarteners navigating a new and bigger campus to the confident strides of 5th-graders preparing for the challenges of middle school, each stage of the elementary journey holds its own wonder and significance.

Lower School is a time when friendships are developed, creative minds flourish in art classes, and the power of words, both written and read, is unlocked through captivating stories and class discussions. It’s a time when children embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and celebrate their achievements, both big and small. Lower School teachers are committed to nurturing each child’s unique strengths, supporting their individual needs, and fostering a love for learning that will guide them throughout their lives. I’m sure you will find their gifts and talents as inspiring and impressive as I do.

As the teachers and I continue to prepare for the start of the year — while simultaneously trying to squeeze the last bit of New England summer sunshine! — let this letter serve as a brief welcome and assurance for all the new school year will bring. As always, we look forward to partnering with you as we help each child to feel valued, encouraged, and empowered — or in other words — as we help each child to learn their powers and become answerable for their use!

I am confident that the coming year will be one of fulfillment, joy, and meaningful connections. I look forward to celebrating all of our students’ achievements alongside you and our teachers, and marveling in the small moments that make the elementary years truly special.

Warmly,
Dr. Felicia Vinces
