Breakthrough Providence has a dual mission: to create a pathway to college for low-income, academically-motivated middle school students in Providence Public Schools, and to encourage talented high school and college students to pursue careers in education.
 
FOR STUDENTS

Learn at Breakthrough Providence this Summer!
Breakthrough Providence is dedicated to supporting Providence middle schoolers on their journeys through middle school, high school, and college, as they develop into critical, socially conscious change-makers in our community.

Applying to Learn
Enrollment is open to all Providence 6th graders who are able to fully commit to the program through 8th grade graduation. All interested students are strongly encouraged to complete our application in English or Spanish before Monday, February 13, 2017. Completed forms can either be returned to the student's guidance department or mailed directly to Breakthrough Providence at 216 Hope Street, Providence, RI, 02906.

Summer 2017 Teachers: The Summer 2017 teaching fellow application is now available on the Breakthrough Collaborative website! Start by getting to know us by navigating to the above links and the Summer Teacher Roles & Responsibilities. Read the application instructions and get started. (Important: rank Providence your first choice site if you want to work here.) Please give the application your time and focus. We get hundreds of applications for just 24 spots, and your essays and references help us get to know you. Apply here for our summer 2017 teaching positions.
Application Deadline for Summer 2017 Teachers: January 12th for early decision, February 23rd for regular decision

SUMMER STAFF POSITIONS

Summer 2017 Mentor Teachers: We're looking for strong teachers to mentor and coach our 24 high school- and college-age teachers this summer! Mentor Teachers train and guide high school and college students toward become effective teachers. We're hiring four Mentor Teachers - two English and two Math - to work closely with each other and the program's Directors in supporting teachers as they plan and teach 7th and 8th grade curricula with low-income, academically motivated middle school students in Providence Public Schools. Summer 2017 Dean of Students: Are you passionate about working with young people? Our Summer Dean of Students is the shepherd of our student support system and is the go-to coach, cheerleader, and problem-solver for our student body. Our Dean of Students also lends their experience and expertise to our high school- and college-age teachers as they develop skills and practices for creating classroom harmony. Summer 2017 Operations Associates: Are you interested in everything that needs to happen "behind the scenes" to support the development of a safe and supporting learning community? Apply to be one of our Summer Operations Associates!  We're looking for two college students or recent college graduates who are well-organized, detail-oriented, and go-getters!  Apply by March 3, 2017.

Summer 2017 9th Grade Fellows Mentor: Are you interested in supporting students through their transition from middle school to high school? Do you love teaching in small group settings?  Apply to be our 9th Grade Fellows Mentor!  We're looking for an enthusiastic mentor who can develop an engaging leadership develpment curriculum, plan field trips, and be an awesome role model.  Apply by March 10, 2017.
