School Creates Equity Task Force

June 19, 2020

We are grateful to those of you who have reached out during this time,  across the generations at Wheeler, to talk with us, to share your stories, to express support to continue to push Wheeler to ensure that every child – Black and brown — is heard, known and seen. We have been encouraged by the personal outreach by alumni, as well as inspired by the support of our current students, faculty, staff, and families as we listen and learn about our past, our present, and our shared expectations for our future. Already, alumni and parents have volunteered to speak to our community to share their stories and to serve on our existing Diversity Committee. Please continue to reach out to Allison Gaines Pell, Head of School, Princess Bomba, Director of Unity & Diversity, or share your feedback and experience via this form which will be reviewed by the Equity Task Force at Wheeler that is coming together this summer to design and enact additional actions on behalf of our whole community and our mission statement.  We are here to listen, learn, grow, and act.

A banner stating Black lives matter hangs on the campus with purple and gold school color handprints surrounding it.
