Dr. Brock Eide to Deliver Keynote Address at 2022 Learning Differences Conference

The Hamilton Institute at Wheeler is pleased to announce that Dr. Brock Eide, co-author of The Dyslexic Advantage and The Mislabeled Child, will be the keynote speaker at the institute’s 4th Annual Learning Differences Conference. Each year, the conference brings together educators and caregivers who wish to learn more about dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. In addition to the keynote address, Hamilton School faculty and other experts in the field of neurodiversity will offer breakout sessions. The conference will be held virtually on Feb. 26, 2022.

“In the last few decades, there has been so much research that has helped us understand children with dyslexia. However, there has not been as much focus on the talents and strengths often exhibited by those who struggle to learn to read,” said Director of The Hamilton School Jon Green. “Folks with dyslexia have talents and strengths that often go undetected, especially in the context of school.”

Dr. Eide and his wife, Dr. Fernette Eide, have been pioneers in researching and promoting increased understanding of the talents of those with dyslexia. “At The Hamilton School, we work hard to emphasize these talents, especially those that make our students with dyslexia such great thinkers and gifted problem solvers,” Green said. “We are excited that Dr. Eide will present research that speaks to this approach of working with students with dyslexia.”

Dr. Brock Eide has written and lectured widely on dyslexia and learning differences and has been a consultant to the President’s Council of Bioethics and a visiting lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. He is co-founder of the non-profit organization Dyslexic Advantage and CEO of Neurolearning SPC, a company that makes a dyslexia screening application.

The Hamilton Institute’s Learning Differences Conference is open to the public as well as the Wheeler community. Registration information and additional details about this year’s conference will be shared in the fall.
