Our Mission Statement
The goal of the Lower School is to support each student in developing the academic skills, personal awareness, and emotional resilience necessary to be a successful learner and valued member of the community.

About Us
Wheeler’s Lower School has an early childhood program for children in grades nursery to kindergarten and an elementary grades program for children in grades 1 to 5. The Lower School offers a sophisticated, joyful, learning experience built on a rich daily program responsive to each and every child. As the little brothers and sisters in a spirited, Nursery through 12th-grade family, Lower School children are inspired and supported by the dynamism, positive energy, and commitment of the entire Wheeler community. Above all else, the teachers in our Lower School are extraordinary experienced, enthusiastic, creative and deeply invested in each child’s success.

One Community
All Lower School students and faculty gather weekly in the Isenberg Auditorium for our Community Meeting to share things they have learned and collaborate on community service projects. For over 30 years, the Lower School has had a relationship with Amos House, a local organization whose mission is to feed and support residents of our city. Lower School also has a long-standing connection to Brown University through our affiliation with the Master of Arts in Teaching Program.
