Every Gift Counts.

Every gift to Wheeler and Hamilton sustains and improves us. We may be a decent school without philanthropic support – but we can never be a great one without it. All gifts – no matter how big or how small – are an investment in our children and in their futures.

Each year all members of our community – parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, parents of alumni and friends – come together as part of our Annual Giving to make a daily impact with lasting results. Our Annual Giving has three components – the Wheeler Annual Fund, our Clothing Sale and Big Event and the Senior Parent Gift campaign. This giving helps address the 15% of our annual operating budget that is not covered by tuition revenue.

In addition, many members of our community give major gifts for us to have facilities that serve to enhance learning and create a warm, supportive school community where students can thrive, succeed and be happy. Other donors give the gift of financial aid allowing children who share those same dreams to be part of our community. Some donors give to build our endowment so we can not only open our doors, but sustain our school and its level of excellence.

In our community, we make lifelong friendships and connections. Our founder, Mary C Wheeler, gave the school to the Board of Trustees as a bequest that allows her dream to continue today. Some of our donors continue that tradition today by including Wheeler in their estate or financial planning.

An educational journey must be varied and robust. It takes experiences both inside and outside the classroom to meet the needs, talents and interests of our Wheeler and Hamilton students. To do that, we ask everyone in the community to make our school one of their philanthropic priorities. Our goal is that 100% of our community makes a gift – of any size – so we can join together to make our school the best it can be for our students.

Malone Scholars Program

The Wheeler School was selected in 2011 by the Malone Family Foundation to receive a $2 million endowment for the funding of educational opportunities for academically talented and motivated students whose families demonstrate financial need. Wheeler is the only Rhode Island school in the Malone Scholars Program.

Founded by Dr. John C. Malone of Colorado, the Malone Family Foundation selected its 50 partner schools on "the basis of their academic caliber; quality of their staff; excellent accommodations for gifted and talents students; strong AP/IB and enrichment programs; attention to individual student's needs, interests and talents, financial strength and stability; a commitment to financial aid; and an economically, culturally, ethnically and socially diverse population."

Through the Malone Scholars Program, Wheeler is able to perpetually fund scholarships to exemplary scholars in grades 7 - 12.  For more information contact Patricia McLaughlin, Head of Institutional Advancement at Wheeler.
