Iris Cephas '21 earned the Outstanding Female Soloist Performance Award at the 11th annual Wyvern Invitational A Cappella Festival at Kingswood Oxford School, April 6, 2019.

Faculty member Kristin Sprague joined a panel of music educators at Tufts University in April, Boston Sings or BOSS, for a workshop called "Building a High School Choral Program."
Ben Thornton auditioned and was accepted into the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Vocal Program in Lennox, MA.

Joseph Acampora achieved a perfect score of 35/35 at the RI Music Educators Association Ensemble and Solo Festival and received a medal for superior-level performance on the Electric Bass.   

Richard Kang scored a superior-level performance on the Violin at the event.

RI Foundation MacColl Johnson Fellowship Finalist
Francisco Pais Cardoso, Jazz Music faculty member, was one of three finalists in this year's fellowship competition in the Composers category. The fellowships rotate among composers, writers, and visual artists on a three-year cycle.

Berklee High School Jazz Festival
Sophomore Iris Cephas won an outstanding musicianship award. 
A total of 15 students from Wheeler attended under the direction of Berklee Alumnus and Director of Jazz at Wheeler Francisco Pais Cardoso.

Our a cappella group, The 18 Wheelers, have progressed to a semifinals berth in this year's International Championship of High School A Cappella sponsored by Varsity Vocals.  Singer Sana Iqbal received an Outstanding Soloist Award.

Festival Ballet
Seven students will perform this December in Festival Ballet Providence's production of The Nutcracker. Dancers include Grace Donabella-Pedlow, William Kinloch, Monique Pond, Mizuki Samuelson, Beatrice Schroeder, Deborah Madeline Stutz, and Hannah Yelnosky. 

Senior Niklas Kniesche won 3rd prize in the Kaufman International Piano Competition in NYC, June 2017 and won best chamber group ensemble at New England Conservatory for his work with his duo piano partner Jacob Kline, June 2017

Youth American Grand Prix International Ballet Competition

Sophomore Mizuki Samuelson and freshman Hannah Yelnosky competed for Festival Ballet Providence in the regional semi-finals in Boston in March.
Samuelson's group performed a contemporary piece while Yeknosky's group performed a classical piece that scored well enough to move to the finals in NYC. Yelnosky also competed in the Connecticut Classic Ballet Competition.
