Two-Day Student Visit
After testing information has been reviewed and parents have had an admissions meeting with the Director of Admissions and the Hamilton Director, an applicant may be invited to visit Hamilton if the admissions committee feels that there is a potential match. Usually applicants visit for two consecutive days, although sometimes one-day visits are scheduled for first graders or when scheduling does not allow the two-day visit.
The student visits are an important step in the admissions process. And, while the school does not administer any formalized testing during the visit, teachers do spend time observing and assessing students' reading, writing, and math skills. Also, teachers observe how the visiting child behaves socially within the class and within the larger campus community. Teachers pass along feedback to the admissions office after the visit, and The Wheeler Admissions Office will contact parents about the visit, usually within a week or two.
