After School Care & Camps

The goal of Wheeler’s After School Program is to provide students with a meaningful and dynamic extension of their school day in a safe, comfortable and familiar environment

Overview

The goal of Wheeler’s After School Program is to provide Lower School and Hamilton Lower School students with a meaningful and dynamic extension of their school day in a safe, comfortable and familiar environment. The program philosophy is one that is both structured and play-based, able to meet the needs of anyone in our community. This socially, intellectually stimulating, and well-supervised experience supports learning opportunities, new friendships, and social development in a vibrant and lively environment.

Options for families

Families have two daily options to choose from WOW After-Care and Enrichment Programs, each having daily offerings and their own fee structure. Both options have a 4:30 pm end time, and for families who need to extend their student’s day to 5:30 pm we offer the Extended-Care OptionA daily snack is provided upon arrival to all students.

Our Fall, Winter and Spring trimesters align with the Wheeler and Hamilton Lower School academic calendar offering an after school option every day school is in session.

After-Care Option

Providing child care options for families after the regular school day ends is a goal of Auxiliary Programs at Wheeler. Below are various options available during the school year.  Wheeler Summer is a popular option over the summer months.

WOW After–Care

Students in the WOW program participate in crafts, games, and sports that are age-appropriate and tailored to the interest of the students. Along with a variety of hands-on indoor games and activities, students experience a daily, weather permitting, staff-supervised, outdoor play time. Students may attend daily, or families can build a unique schedule that supports their after school care needs.

Programs operate from 3:15pm-4:00pm, with WOW coverage until 4:30pm on the day your child is registered for a specific Enrichment program.

Students will have an opportunity to join an organized and curriculum-based elective class that will deeply engage students in a variety of subject matters, interests, skills, and passions. The Wheeler Music School is part of Enrichment, with the same 4:30 pm end time.  Private, one-to-one lessons in guitar, piano, voice, brass, drums and violin will be taught by qualified, well-respected music instructors.

Families who need to extend their students day beyond 4:30 pm may choose to register for the Extended-Care Option and enjoy the remainder of WOW After-Care programming until 5:30 pm.

A newly-designed and enhanced study program for 4th and 5th grade students that we call Supervised Studybegins this year. Supervised Study features a more organized, structured program with staff who will supervise students in a supportive and stimulating manner so they have a meaningful end of school day experience.

The Auxiliary Programs team will be offer programs on select days when school is not in session. Camps may include on-site activities and field trips. All programs will be offered from 7:30am – 4:00pm.

Wheeler Summer takes place at the beautiful Wheeler Farm campus in Seekonk, MA. Transportation from Providence is available.
