Wheeler's oldest continuous school tradition is Field Day — 102 years running in 2016!  Each May, Purple Cows and Gold Lions rule the Wheeler Farm and battle it out for bragging rights in fun events.  Families come dressed in the colors of their spirit team and no one wants to miss the Grand March of Purples and Golds (led in by the alumni and with oldest students walking hand in hand with the youngest). With the exciting Apache Race — a 25+ year tradition of its own that pits relay runners from Grades 1 - 12 against each other — and fun games for the kids of all ages, this annual event is one students eagerly await and never forget.
